Have a Craftsman mod.139.53800SRT1 opener. Having trouble getting door down. Remote quit working.

To get door down you have to hold the wall mounted button till door shuts, otherwise door will come down just a few inches then back up with light flashing 5 times. To get door up, no problem. Also cannot get the green lights to come on either the sending & receiving sensors. I checked wires. No breaks. Could this be a problem with receiver logic board?

This indicates you are having safety sensor problems. By holding down the wall station you are bypassing the sensors. This works better when it is darker. Look at the sensors. Each should have a light on them and be lit. If they look like they are not pointing at each other realign them. There is an infrared beam that passes between them and if it is not intact the door will continue ti do this. If you can't get the lights to come on then you either have a bad sensor or bad wiring to the sensors. These are sold in pairs. If the lights are on and stay on all the way down but you still have to hold down the wall button then you have logic board problems. You can go to searspartsdirect.com for replacement parts. This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
