Craftsman Keyless entry #139.53684 quit working after replacing battery in remote. Won't reprogram?
I have a Craftsman keyless entry, model # 139.53684 that worked perfectly fine until I replaced the battery in one of the remotes and reprogrammed it. Now it won't let me reprogram the keyless entry pad. I even purchased a new keyless entry with the same model # and it won't work either. Any suggestions?

Most of the time when you are having receiver or logic board problems it seems as though batteries need to be replaced and then you notice other things that are going wrong after you replaced the batteries. Just replacing batteries does not do anything to the opener.

There are two different things that might be going on. Bring your remote very close to the opener and oush it. If it operates at this close range or if the led light on the opener head is constantly lit then you are receiving interference and will need a external receiver on a different mhz. Anything from a new blender to a neighbors new dish can cause this and are very hard to find. Remotes on the same mhz have to be bought too.

If it does not operate and the led light is not constantly lit then you are having logic board problems. You need a new logic board installed. Most of the time a surge can cause this. Do you have the opener on a surge protector. You should have one 900 joules or higher, no matter what is done about your current problem. A new logic board will come with an internal receiver on the same frequency so make sure that you are not receiving interference.
