Not able to get the remote to close the garage door
First make sure the batteries are good. If it is just not closing by the remote but will open then you probably have a safety sensor problem. To test this go inside, press and hold the wall button down. If it closes while you hold it down then look at the sensor eyes. There should be a light on both of them. They should be ligned up pointing at each other. If they are the lights on the sensors will be on. If they will not light up or only one will check the bell wire that powers them. Also check where these wires enter the opener to make sure they are plugged in. If you cannot get them to work you may need a replacement pair.
If it won't go down by holding the wall button down then you have a problem with the door itself or a down force issue. Unhook the door from the opener and run it by hand. Check the ease of operation and the balance. If ok hook back up and on the back of the opener find an adjustment called down force and turn it up 1/4 turn at a time. Do not ever turn it all the way up. You should have enough force to operate the door but not too much that it could trap something under it. Do a 2x4 safety reversal test to check. If it does not come back up in this test turn it down until it will. Thanks BBMember
