Remotes/Keypad(new batts&reset code) won't open garage door unless directly underneath unit.

Craftsman 1/2HP 315MHz garage door opener model 139.53985D (2006) Remotes and keypad will not open door unless directly underneath unit. I cut power to the unit for several minutes, did a master code clearing reset, reprogrammed all remotes and installed new batteries. If you think it's the receiver logic board, would the remotes not work at all? I ask because they do work if standing below unit.

One of the signs that a receiver is going bad is loss of range. The only other thing to check is the led light by the button you pressed on the opener. If it is constantly on then you are receiving too much interfearence to operate the unit unless under it. If not your options are to replace the logic board that has the receiver on it at the same frequency or get an external receiver, and you could get the same frequency or not depending on the model. More often than not people replace the board and it clears up the issue, unless you are receiving interfearence, than it will not help. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
