I have a new preassembled snow thrower model 247.88960. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUB1k3bfjMU. On my new preassembled 28" snowthrower (model 247.88960) the speed selector pivot bracket rubs against the drive control cable: www.you-tube.com/123456789) I think they installed the wrong speed selector pivot bracket; the one in the parts list has a normal right angle.
Guess I'll just order the part and see if it's different.
The angle of the bracket should be 90 degrees. It appears that your bracket is bent. If the snow thrower is still under warranty, I recommend that you have the bracket replaced. If it is not under warranty, I recommend that you try to bend the bracket back out to the proper 90 degree angle or replace the bracket.
I bought the new parts: two brackets and some screws & nuts. Cost about $12 plus $7 for shipping. They went on easily, now everything is OK. [I did it myself because I didn't want to cart the whole thing to a repair center. But obviously I'm disappointed that it was delivered defective]
