Which way does the chain go around the sprocket on Craftsman Garage Door Opener?

Craftsman Sears Electronic Garage Door Opener #139664953. There is no manual available, either by order or for download. The door was blocked for several years and when I tried using it again, I had a chain jam. Now, have unjammed the chain but now I don't know how to "thread" the chain and cable.

There are a couple of ways to figure it out. If your opener has safety eyes, press the button and cross the beam, then do it one more time. This will insure that the opener is in the up position. So hook the trolley up to the door at the top and you will be in the correct position.

If no eyes then as you look down at the sprocket from BEHIND the opener the sprocket will turn clockwise for down travel and counter clockwise for the up travel. You can adjust the travel of the door independently by using the doors up or down travel adjustments. You can also adjust the force of the opener. After adjustments you need to perform a 2x4 safety reversal test for your safety. The door should come all the way down come in contact with a flat 2x4 and it should come back up, not just sit on top of it. If it does not come back up reduce the down force. Thanks BB Thanks for the picture too

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
