There are only a couple of reasons that a five flash occurs. The first is if you run the motor too much in a short amount of time and it over heats. To solve this unplug it and let it rest for 1 hr. The second is your rpm sensor is malfunctioning. This problem goes hand in hand with you having the problem of the opener only moving 6-8" and stopping. Unplug the unit to reset the code. If it persists replace the rpm sensor. The third is the trolley is stuck on the up stop bolt. It is located on the rail. It needs to be removed and then adjust the UP travel Opposite of the arrow, or down so it does not go up so far. If none of this helps we recommend you replace the logic board.
