Is this worth repairing? From description, can definitive fault be determined, or should the entire unit be replaced? Thanks.
First of all whether you get a new unit or repair the old one make sure and get a quality surge protector and you won't have to worry about surges, 900 joules or higher.
If lightning directly struck your house then I would say go for a new one. But if you just received a surge or just had a close hit I would get a new logic board. Most of the time it won't go past the board, but it can't be determined from my end. Also I would take the age of the unit into consideration. Personally 93 and older I would replace, 93 and newer I would repair. Good luck BBMember
