1/2 HP garage opener. It will close, then reopen immediately. What's wrong with it?

This is a random event, yet it will happen several times in a day, then not happen again for months. We pay attention to make sure the garage door is closed ... yet this auto reopen causes concern.

There are adjustments on the side or back of the unit called force limits. They stick out of the motor head are are usually blue. Do not get them confused with the ones that are on the side and are recessed. There are two force limit settings. Find the one that indicates down force and adjust it clockwise 1/4 and try the unit for a while. If this is still happening then adjust another 1/4 turn. If it still happens find the adjustments that are recessed and find the one that indicates down and turn it OPPOSITE the way the arrow indicates with a flat head screw driver and try. Make sure and do a 2x4 safety reversal test after any adjustments. If it hits the flat 2x4 and does not come back up and stays down then turn down the down force you adjusted up. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
