Garage door opener doesnt open, just buzzes, light flashes. have to loosen the chain & then opens. Y
i have 2 sears openers. model 139.53645SRT1, sometimes the garage door openers dont open. when u press the button, it just buzzes. i then have to loosen the the tension of the chain and then the door opens. the chain sags well below the rail. if i retighten the chain, it may work acouple of times, and then the same problem. Any ideas?

There is an adjustment on the motor head labeled force adjustments. They stick out of the opener and will be on the side or back of the unit. Try turning the force adjustments clockwise1/4 turn and try it again. make sure the chain is tight. If not another 1/4 turn. Also unhook the opener from the door and run the door by hand to make sure it is balanced correctly and runs smoothly. If not fix this first. Make sure and do a 2x4 safety reversal test after adjusting. If it does not come back up adjust the nobs down some. Thanks BB
