How do I remove the rear panel on my lawn tractor to gain access to the gearbox?

It is a Craftsman 19.5 twin cylinder 42 in cut. The model is 917.270912.

You can remove the draw bar from the tractor by removing the bolts that hold it to the frame.

You can access the transaxle to check the oil and do most things much easier by jacking up the rear of the tractor and removing the rear wheels. Removing and installing the draw bar is a time consuming chore.

There was an issue with some model 917.270912 tractors having a problem with the drive belt slipping on the engine pulley. The repair was to replace the engine pulley.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
