The unit is a Chamberlain Lift Master Professional (1/3 HP) Model # 2245. The unit was manufactured in 2004. The door had been opening and closing all day with no problem. Without warning, the door stopped functioning properly.
If the door closes all the way down to the floor and then reverses then the down force or travel need to adjusted. On the back or the side of the motor unit there sre two raised adjusting screws. They stick out of the housing. One indicates up and one down. Turn the down one 1/8 turn clockwise, and try it again. By doing this you are giving more power to the unit. DO NOT turn it all the way up, this is dangerous and can lead to injury or death. If still not try another 1/8 turn. If this does not work there are another set of adjustments that are recessed into the motor on the side. One indicates up and one down. On the down one turn it opposite of the arrow. By doing this you are telling the door to close not so far down. Either of these can be adjusted and it might be a mix of them to remedy this problem. After all is done you need to do a 2x4 safety reversal test. Thanks BB
