This is a side by side model 106.50592003 and the fridge was cooling at 50 - 60 degrees. I unplugged it for 5 minutes to reset it but no change. I then unplugged it for 24 hours and still no change. I noticed that the airflow from the freezer to the fridge increased when I opened the freezer door, indicating the vent that allows air to flow to the freezer is obstructed. I keep a wire grate to prevent food items from blocking that vent and have defrosted the unit for 24 hours. What else could be clogging the pathway?
If the airflow to the refrigerator increases when the freezer door is opened, it indicates the return air vent is blocked. Normally it will be frozen and by unplugging it as you did for 24 hours, will clear it. Depending on how thick the ice is, it may take longer to thaw. Sometimes the baffle will also ice up and break the linkage when it tries to open. There is an updated baffle assembly # 2209751 that will have a stronger gate linkage. This kit is available at Sears PartsDirect . If the damper is open, I suggest opening the refrigerator door and turning the unit off again for a few hours. If the air flow remains the same and still increases with the freezer door open, it will indicate a possible collapse of the return air vent. In this case, there is no fix. A technician will be required to check this.
