I have a Craftsman model 358.796121, 4-stroke weedwacker. Oil leaks onto the muffler. Why is it tough to pull the starter rope?

Oil is leaking onto the muffler. It worked fine last week. I also found it quite difficult to pull the starter rope. I worked it a bit and it started and ran OK, then I noticed the oil on muffler. I shut the weedwacker down. What can be done to repair or remedy this issue?

It sounds as if the engine was overfilled with oil. Check the level of the engine oil and remove any excess oil.

Remove the spark plug and pull the starter rope until nothing comes out of the spark plug hole. The spark plug will need cleaning or replacing.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
