Why won't my garage door opener work after a lightning storm?

I have a Sears 1/2 hp garage door opener part no. 41A5389D. During a storm power flickered several times. The door opener would not operate. There is power to the unit and the wall switch is on. The floor level safety sensors are not illuminated. I noticed that the small orange light in the receiver of the unit is blinking. I checked wiring to the floor level sensors and found that about 12 millivolts DC is present. Any help would be appreciated.

The voltage through the door sensor circuits should be around 5 volts. If you are not measuring this voltage at the sensors then you could have a problem with the wiring or a failed logic board in the unit. Try connecting the sensors to the motor unit with short wires to see if they will work. If the sending sensor is receiving the proper voltage but will not work, then it will need to be replaced. If the logic board is not sending the proper voltage to the sending unit, then the logic board will likely need to be replaced.

The part number that you submitted (41A5389D) is the part number for the logic board. I am showing that garage door opener models 139.53927 and 139.5399211 use this logic board. If you have a different model, resubmit your question with additional details and the full model number of your opener.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
