I received an "Answer by: MMH Expert Bob B" to my complaint that my remote garage door opener #139.53879 (purchased 1999) stopped working. Although I replaced the battery and it worked fine for 2 more weeks, it stopped again. The opener by the side door of the garage works fine. "BobB" suggested that I find the colored learn button on the motor head, press and hold it until the led light goes out, press the learn button briefly, then press the button on the remote. He said the light bulb should flash once, which it did. I then tried the remote again and it opened the garage door once and closed it once, but then it stopped working again. I tried the suggested sequence again, but I got the same result. The opener by the side door of the garage still works fine. Any suggestions now? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Sure. The next step is to replace the logic board if that did not work. We always give the easiest and least expensive solution first. Do you have a surge protector? We recommend one 900 joules or higher. This could actually be the reason it got damaged in the first place. So you need to replace the logic board which houses the receiver or get a new unit.
