Lets make sure it is the opener and not the door first. Run the door by hand without the opener attached. It should run smooth and easily. If it does not you need to fix this first.

First thing to try is increasing the down force. On the back or side of the motor you will find to screws that STICK OUT, not recessed. Find the one that indicates down and turn it clock wise 1/4 turn. Try to run it. If not another 1/4. If at any time this works stop adjusting the screw and perform a 2x4 safety reversal test. If it does not come back up you need to adjust it counter clock wise. You have to find the happy medium. If not fixed go on.

Here is a test to perform to see what the problem is. If you can hold down the inside wall button and the door operates then the problem is in the sensors. You are over riding the sensors holding down. Make sure there is a light on both sensors, not flashing or off. If there is no obvious damage or misalignment to the sensor or damage to the wire then you need new ones.

If holding down the wall button still does nothing you need a new logic board for this unit. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
