installed a 1/2 HP garage opener. Have older remotes from previous opener. Programming doesn't work

Installed new Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener. Have 3 remotes from old 1/2 HP Craftsman Opener from June 2000. I cannot program the old remotes using the learn button. Are the remotes too old? Batteries were fine 3 days ago.

The manufacturer has changed the frequencies from 390mhz to 315mhz. So your remotes won't work, sorry. For your new opener anything with a ((( ))) symbol will work only. Although Clicker makes a universal one that will work any. This new format is supposed to be a lot more secure and reliable frequency. Around military bases we were having trouble with the old frequency because the military started using one close to it on their AWAX and when certain planes cued their mike 10 or 15 openers would activate. Sorry for the news. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
