Light on back of garage door opener craftsman 139.53637SRT flashes 5 times over & over, switch fails

The light repeats flashing process. I replaced push button thinking that was causing intermittent working, it's not the problem. It's still doing it. Does anyone know what that error code (5 flashes) means? Sometimes pushing button 20 times won't operate door. Seems to work most of the time with remote openers. Why isn't there an error code list in the manual? Or even on line... nothing about what the 5 flashes means? the lights on the sensors are lit and aimed correctly...

Chamberlain states that 5 flashes could be a couple things. Here they are.

Symptom-

the motor does not operate or trolley is stuck on top stop bolt=motor unit hums briefly

RPM sensor faulty=short travel 6-8"

-unplug to reset. try to operate motor unit, check code after

--If it is still flashing 5 times and moves only 6-8", replace rpm sensor

---If motor does not operate replace logic board.

If the trolley is stuck at the top then loosen the chain and back it off the stop bolt and set the up travel down so it does not go so far up.

These are the fixes for a five flash code. We recommend a surge protector on all openers 900 joules or higher. You can get replacement parts at sears.com Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
