When is it safe to weed/feed my front yard that has weeds growing in the grass that I planted 2 months ago?
I completely dug up and seeded my front lawn with centipede grass. I put down top soil first. I did this about 2 months ago. Weeds have grown in with the grass. I have dug out as many as I can, but it is an endless process and I wonder what you recommend to help? Should I use weed and feed? When is it safe to do so?

Centipede grass does not normally need to be fertilized more than once a year. It should have been fertilized when initially planted. A 16-4-8 or 15-0-15 fertilizer is normally recommended. Weed and feed fertilizer is normally not effective when used on centipede grass. Do not over-fertilize.

Centipede grass normally takes a long time to germinate and then become established from seed. I recommend that you allow several more months for the centipede grass to become established before applying an herbicide if necessary. Patience is necessary when starting a new centipede lawn from seed. Once the centipede grass is firmly established, it will normally choke out most weeds.

When the grass does become established, a spot application of herbicides recommended for use on a centipede grass lawn will likely help you control the weeds.

For more specific information regarding centipede grass weed control and care, I recommend that you read the document in this link that is from the North Carolina State University A & T Cooperative Extension: Weed Control in Centipede

This information should help you select herbicides that will kill and control weeds in your new centipede grass.
