My 1/2 hp craftsman garge door opener's gleen led light blinks 5 times when trying to operate.

Drive chain and gears are okay, and I also don't have the sensor lens on either side of the door. My unit was manufactured in 1992. When a click the remote or wall unit to open, all I hear is a double click. The lights on the unit work fine and everything apears to be connected correctly. Any ideas before I sent somebody out?

If you have a wall station with a "lock" function. It might be engaged. You can tell by looking at the light on the wall station. If it is blinking rapidly then it is locked. Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds and let go. Then try it.

This also might be a logic board problem. It is hard to tell not seeing it first hand. Openers usually last 10-15 years, although some last longer. If it is too expensive to fix you will probably be better off with a new one. It probably will not cost a whole lot more than having a tech out. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
