#139.53962srt. door has shifted to one side. as door came down, the rollers started to bind in the rail and stopped the door. as a result, the trolley kept moving and tore itself away from it's rail and the door itself. i can manually move the door up and down and feel the rollers bind. somehow it is off-center. it is not slanted, just shifted. how do i equalize the gap on both sides of the door? it is a one piece none metal door that had been working for at least 10 yrs.
More than likely one of two things has happened, although it might be a combination of many factors. Keep your door lubricated first of all.
1-Your rollers might need replacing. most older rollers have bearings in them and need to be replaced every so often. They can bind the door if they get bad enough. Be careful if you are replacing the bottom rollers as they are connected to the spring most of the time.2-If you have extension springs, they might need adjusted. Extension springs are the springs that go from the front of the door to the back and they stretch out as the door goes down. The other kind is torsion springs, they are on top of the door and rotate around a metal tube. What happens is the springs wear a little different(this is normal) from each other and need to be adjusted. This is very dangerous and I can't suggest the proper way to you because there are different kinds and brand specifics.Sometimes if you push from the top loke the opener would instead of pulling it down you can tell a little better what is going on.
