I have a Craftsman garage door opener installed in 2002 - model # 13953995SRT - that loses power off & on during operation. This has been going on for a few months but has gotten to where it takes at least 6 try's to open or close the door all the way(no matter if I use the wall unit, key pad,or remote). The power does not return all the time & I found out that tapping the bottom of the unit restores power. I removed the cover to look for any broken or loose wires but did not find any. Any ideas?
When you say loose power, do you mean like someone unplugged it? And then comes back on? Or it has power and then won't operate the door? I must say if it is the first one, it is a situation that is dangerous and uncommon. There are a couple of wire harnesses inside the unit coming and going from the logic board, and also there are the wires coming in to the unit from the 110 outlet you can check. Make sure it is unplugged when you do this. If it is not apparent right away, you might consider finding a reputable dealer in your area and letting them track it down. Or of course there is the option of a new unit. If it were me I would not operate the unit in this condition, as it could be a fire hazard at any time. Thanks BB
