The led on my garage door opener flashes constantly. The sensors are aligned ok. All we get is a click when trying to close. What to do?

It is a model 13953993d. The door opened fine, but when trying to close all we hear is a click. The sensors are aligned and have the appropriate lights. This click occurs when using the remote or wall unit. The led on the opener flashes constantly. The opener is 13 months old. This click also occurs with the door disconnected form the operator. I unplugged the power but we still have the same problem.

If the led is flashing randomly it means you have RF(radio frequency) in the area. The RF confuses the logic board and causes it not to close the relays to operate the motor in the opener.

To search for something in your home that might be causing rf, begin by removing the battery from 1 remote. If there is not change put that battery back and remove the other one. Unplug one garage door opener, if there is no change plug that opener in and unplug the other one.

If you have lost or replaced a remote in the past, search through drawer and couch and chair cushions for the missing remote and remove the battery. These are the most common reasons for short range.

To determine if the rf is coming from something in the garage or house, turn the house circuit breakers off one at a time. Try a remote after each breaker is turned off. If the range improves, the rf is coming from something on that circuit.

If you don't find anything causing the short range, you can schedule service and get a Sears technician to check the openers. Sears technicians carry a meter that will find the source of the rf signal.

If the led flashes, pauses, and flashes again, it is giving you a code of what the problem is. I am sending you an image that gives the flash codes and some ideas to repair the opener.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
