First of all we recommend surge protectors on all openers, 900 joules or better. If you replaced your board yesterday and received a surge today you could need to replace it again. So it is very possible.

Lets test a couple things first though.

First pull the red cord and make sure the door is easy to lift and raises and lowers smoothly. It should stay at the top in the middle and down at the bottom. You should be able to raise and lower it with 2 fingers.

If that is fine...

On the back or side of the opener you will find some adjustments called "force". Not to be confused with the travel settings. Turn up the up force 1/8 turn and try it again, if not another 1/8 turn...It should never go all the way up though.

If none of this works than I would suggest a new board. You can find one at sears.com Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
