I have to remove a rail section from my garage door opener. I have a beam that runs the width of my garage and with all rails in I am not able to mount my garage door opener to the ceiling.
There is a clip on the belt. If you can find a way to take it off and shorten it and reattach strongly then yes. We have special tools not available to the public to do this. The easiest opener type to shorten is a screw drive and then chain and then belt. I would give it an 8 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. There are alot of variables to doing this. There are also openers made by Chamberlain and Zap that attach directly to the torsion shaft made just for this kind of install. Thanks BB
