How do I remove the lock (lost the key) on my car top carrier so I may install a new one?
It is a Sears X-Cargo car top carrier. It is currently locked (not installed on the car), but I have lost the keys. How do I pick the lock, or somehow remove it, so that I can then install a replacement lock that I purchased through Sears Parts?

It is likely that you will need to take the car top carrier to a locksmith to pick the lock. Without a model number, I am not able to see the exact X-Cargo carrier that you have. Most of these carriers have the lock attached on the inside of the carrier with a nut that needs to be removed. Since the carrier is locked, it would have to be unlocked in order to access this area. I am not able to give you advice on picking the lock. It is likely that a locksmith will be able to open it.
