I have a craftsman garage door open. my garage door only opens 6".

There are two possibilities I would explore first.

The first is that your door has something wrong with it that the opener will not open it because of safety tolerances. Pull the red cord down and run the door by hand. Make sure it runs smooth and free with no hitches or rubbing anywhere. If it is fine then with the door all the way up so the opener can run without moving the door, make the opener go up and down. It should go all the way up and stop and all the way down and stop. If it does hook them back up and find the force adjustments on the motor head. They are on the back or side of the motor head. There are two, you want to find the up force and turn it clockwise 1/4 turn and try to run it again. If no then try another 1/4 turn. If this does not fix it I would call a technician. Make sure and do a 2x4 safety reversal test after adjusting. BB
