My opener will not close my garage door. It is a Craftsman 139.53681B. I changed the batteries.

I am unable to use my car remote to close my garage. I have a Craftsman 139-53681B remote garage door opener. I changed the batteries, and I am able to use the remote to open the door, but when I try to close it using the remote, the overhead light starts flashing three or four times. I am only able to close the door using the control mounted inside the garage. The FCC ID number is HBW1255.

This indicates there is a problem with your safety sensors. One more test just to make sure. Go to the wall button, if you press and hold it down and it goes all the way down as you hold it down, than yes.

Make sure there are no leaves, webbs or obstructions on the sensors or the bottom of the door. There should be a light on each sensor. If they are not ligned up then one will be off. One sends and one receives. If you can tell which one is off then eye it up to look at the other one. As soon as the light comes on then try it again. If you eye it up and no light look at the wire, it might need replaced. If you re-wire make sure and pay attention to the color of the wiring, it is important. If still nothing then you might need a new set of safety eyes. They are electronic after all. BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
