I fertilized my lawn last month. New grass is growing in with a white power on it. Is it dangerous?

I also put down a round of bug killer in granular form. Not sure why the grass is growing in with white on it.. it's kinda powdery. Is this dangerous for my child to play in?

It's hard to determine the cause of the white powder. It could be residue from the fertilizer or pesticide. It may also be some type of fungal disease. I'd take a sample to your local Cooperative Extension office and ask if they can help identify it. You can find your local office here:

In the meantime, I'd keep your child away from the lawn.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
