This problem is typical to power surge damage. Do you have a surge protector on the opener? 900 joules minimum. Any time there is a "glitch" in the power or it goes all the way out and comes back on your electical devices are subjected to power surges. Electronics like computers, refrigerators, tvs and openers need to be protected. They make single plug ones now.

To fix this problem go to sears.com and have the model number. You will need a new logic board. Or you can have someone do it for you. If you do it yourself, make sure and unplug it before opening it up. It really is not a hard replacement. After install all remotes and keypads need to be recoded. Make sure to do a 2x4 safety reversal test after all is finished. BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
