I just replaced the sprocket and gear set on my crafstment garage door opener and now have a problem

I just replaced the sprocket and gear set on my crafstment garage door opener and now have a problem. The garage opener now works but the last step in the directions was to run the garage opener and let the sprocket do one full turn clockwise before attaching the chain and door. This is my problem the unit will not just go clockwise or down it goes clockwise and then goes back counterclockwise. I actually attempted attaching the door anywas and when I ran the open I thought the metal fram was going to break in half because though the door was already closed it tried to cloe it further and then to open up just a few inches. I tried messing with the open and close settings on the opener but nothig seems to have changed. Can someone please help me with how to get the door and chain setup again. thanks Rich

There might be 2 solutions to this.

The first is this. When you replaced the gears did the opener operate or did you run it not all the way hooked up, really think about it. If yes then you probably need to call and have some one come and fix that. If this happened then there are like 20 steps to get it back to operating correctly, and each one can't be explained.

The second one is there are up and down travel limits on the opener. If the opener is allowing the door to go too far down then the down travel needs to be adjusted back. Find the 2 screws that are inset on the side of the opener. The one with the arrow down is the down travel. Turn it opposite of the arrow to get less down travel. Also turn up the down and up force adjustments 1/8 turn. Do a 2x4 safety reversal test after adjustments. BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
