The new valve cover and o ring is different than the old cover and o ring on my engine how do I get the correct part?

i have a craftsman tractor 917.273201 i order a new valve cover kit it has been update it does not have the whole that the breather separator goes in what is the old part number?

What I will need to correctly address the situation is the model number from the engine itself. I show that the engine should be a Kohler engine. There will be a sticker on one side or the other (usually the right side) that will have the engine model number. It should start with the letters "CV". Then will have some numbers. There will also be a "spec" number or a "type" number. Also, there will be an engine serial number. I will need those numbers to determine exactly which engine is on your tractor. That way we can know exactly which parts you need.
