My lawn & garden tractor starts sometimes and just clicks other times. What is the problem?
Model 917.271020. My battery is brand new and I cleaned the solenoid and starter wires. It starts sometimes and just clicks other times. It will start when I use jumping cables. Do I need a new solenoid or a starter.

More than likely the starter solenoid is failing. If the battery terminals and cable connections are all clean, that's what I would suspect as being the issue.
