This is the screw drive rack. It does need to be lubricated itself but the screw that it runs on does. It needs to be lubricated with graphite grease. Do not use any other kind or it will get all over the door and cars. Although not lubricating this part does not typically lead to failure. Unhook the opener from the door and run it up and down by hand. The door should run smooth and easy. You should be able to operate the door with two fingers up and down. If the door is not in good condition or not running correctly then this part will wear out fast. If the door is in need of adjustment or repair, call a reputable technician in your area to fix it. Springs and doors can be very dangerous. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
