Like any electrical device it is made to receive and dispurse any interference it receives. Sometimes the interferience is too much. Has this been an ongoing problem or did it happen after you purchased another electrical product. It can be something as little as a blender plugged in, not even operating all the way up a new cell phone tower erected locally. First unplug any thing electrical and try the gdo. If it works correctly find the electrical device that is messing with it. At that point you need to choose which one you want to keep. If still not working move down.
There are 3 things that can be done here. The first is an external antenna. It is an antenna that will go on the outside and sends a signal via bell wire. Although this is one of the cheapest it does not always fix the problem. We use them in metal buildings alot to get the signal through all the metal. The second is an external receiver. Your gdo already has an internal one. The advantage to this is that it changes the frequency that the opener operates at. The only down side is that along with the receiver you have to get new remotes on the different frequency. The third is a new gdo that operates on a different frequency. Thanks BBMember
