How to reprogram the wall button for a Sears 139.53628SRT1 GDO.

The button on the wall unit has operated the light independent of the door for over 15 years. I reset the codes to reprogram some remotes. The wall unit no longer turns the light on and off. What happened?

I must say this is a weird problem, as one problem does not have anything to do with the other. I am operating on the assumption that the light works when the door operates, just not by itself.

I can't really say why that would happen unless you unhooked any wires which it does not sound like you did. It can't be the wiring or the wall station would not work at all. Reprogramming the remotes only resets the receiver and that's it. I would say go find a compatible wall station as this would be the cheapest fix. Make sure to check and see if you have a 2 wire or 4 wire. Your wall station is an electronic device and can go out and it might just be weird timing on this issue. If a new wall station does not fix this then it will be the circuit board. Remember to do a 2x4 safety reversal test after any adjustment. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
