power outage. when we woke up the light was on but the garage door opener would not work

First of all, is the unit protected by a surge protector? This is different than a gfi/gfci. Your gdo needs to surge protection just like your computer. (00 joules should be enough.
Make sure the wall station lock option is not engaged. This will stop all function. Unplug the unit for 5 min. and try again. If nothing than you need a new circuit board. These items can be purchased at Sears.com. Have the model number ready. Do a 2x4 safety reversal test after any adjustments. Thanks BBJoin this conversation.
