I've removed everything down to some sort of spring assembly on top of the plastic housing right above the pull cord spool. Can not seem to figure out how to remove this last item.
That spring assembly is the clutch. That should unscrew from the shaft allowing you access to the pull start items. You will need to hold the crankshaft with something in order to unscrew that clutch (in most cases). Once that's out of the way, you should be right there are the starter and able to service it or replace the bad parts.
Not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but the clutch will not budge. There are no screws. Is there a special tool to remove it? See reference picture from original question. It has a directional arrow that says off, just don't wan to bust it if there's something else I'm suppose to use. Thanks for your help
Im having the same problem with my model 358791050 weedwacker. Got down to the clutch assy, but cant move the darn thing. I have the same marking of a small silver metal piece marked "off" with an arrow encased by a spring and a bronze color "bracket" of some kind? Any suggestions on how to remove this without breaking anything?
