Is remote opener 139.53758 compatible (same frequency) to 139.53753 for reprogramming?

Installed Craftsman (9)53910 1/2 hp chain drive garage door opener which came with two remotes (139.53753); lost one of them. I have 2 spare remotes from an older door opener (139.53758). Before I go to purchase a replacement for 139.53753, I wanted to reprogram one of the spare 139.53758 remotes for use if it's compatible. I opened one of the spare remotes and noticed it has jumper settings; I'm wondering if, with adjustment to jumpers, it may be reprogrammable with new door opener, however, I know that the frequency is the key. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

There is an easy way to see if craftsman garage door openers are compatible with one another.

There are 4 types of openers 1-8 position dip switch 2-10 position dip switch 3-million code(set), usually green, yellow or white learn button on the back of the unit 4-rolling code, usually orange, red or purple learn button on the back of the unit

Each one of these are unique to the frequency and operating function.

If your remote has dip switches and the motor unit has any kind of learn button on it(green, red, purple....)than it is not compatible. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
