purchased in 1995, no problems to date, doesn't appear to be jammed, security sensors both have green lights so appear to be working, light on opener goes on when i press the button but the motor doesn't even make a noise
OK, make sure the sensors do work, the best time to do this is with the door closed or at night. Sometimes the sunlight will make it appear that the sensor is lit when it is not. Unplug the unit and wait 5 minutes to reset. Then push and hold the wall station button down. One of two things will happen , it will either go down until you let go of the button, this would be a sensor problem, or as you say it will do nothing at all. If it does nothing at all either there is a problem with the wall station or wiring or the circuit board. Locate the two bell wires that go from the motor to the wall station and unscrew them from the back of the motor. Then jump across them same two screws with a screw driver, if it goes get new wiring and wall station. If nothing then get a new circuit board. Most times this kind of damage occurs because there is no surge protector between the plug opener plug and the outlet. You can get any of these items at your local Sears or at Sears.com. After any adjustment do a 2x4 safety reversal test and lubricate the door. Thanks BB
