Craftsman grage door opener (model 139.53985) is not getting power.

The wall plug is getting power but the grage door opener is not and has stopped working.

First check the breaker and also plug something you know works in to the outlet to check the outlet. Also run a short cord to an outlet you know is hot just to double check.

Before working on any electrical device unplug it. Take the screws out of the sides and front and back of the unit and remove the metal case that surrounds the motor and electronics. You will see where the cord enters the inside of the unit. Sometimes if the cord has been pulled these cords pull out. Also look at the circuit board for any black marks. If that is not it close things up.

Do any lights at all come on at all, ie-the little led light on the motor, safety eyes, wall station or light bulb?

If no lights come on at all then it will be the circuit board. It does depend how bad it is, whether you replace or fix. Sometimes after you replace the board you realize that it has also affected the wall station or safety eyes. Most people don't realize but your unit needs to be protected by a surge protector just like a computer. They have new ones that are only a single plug. Any of these products are available at Sears.com. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
