A clear plastic sheet under the walking belt of Proform 770 EKG Treadmill is bunching up. What's the problem?

It is a treadmill model 831.291661. The clear plastic sheet is not on the exploded drawing or parts list. It is between the walking belt and the deck. It is bunching up and making a crackling sound when we walk on it. It makes a loud rubbing sound when it bunches up near the front, sometimes jamming the walking belt. Does it belong there ? If yes, can it be tightened?

The plastic sheet belongs on the walking board of the treadmill. The plastic can not be tightened.

There are 2 kits to repair this problem. If your walking belt is 19 inches wide you need a 206288 Mylar strip kit. The cost is around $20.00.

If your walking belt is 17 inches wide, you need a 206289 Mylar strip kit. The cost is around $17.00.

To install the Mylar in place of the plastic you must remove the plastic. The kit will have instructions for installation.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
