garage opener operated by itself during nite several times in a short period-full and partway-now ok

139.53662srt2 Happened at 3:30 in morning. no traffic or other activity outside. About 4 activations in a 1 1/2 -2 minute period. The 2 remotes were in cars. At least one activation (i don't know whether it was an up or down activation) left the door about 2 feet up. It hasn't happened since.

One of two problems can cause this

1- the wiring to the wall station has a short and needs to be rewired. If it happens again disconnect it at the motor and see if it happens again

2- your circuit board has received a surge of some kind and needs re-placed. This can be purchased at Sears.com, have the model number ready.

Modern openers are immune to the(guy going from house to house pushing his remote) kind of thief. They use a rolling code and are not affected by out side interference. You also need a surge protector, 900 joules or higher to protect the opener. Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
