Why are the remotes to our craftsman garage door opener not lasting? Resetting doesn't help.

2 remotes have died and been replaced in the last 2 years-now one of those is dead. batteries don't help. resetting doesn't help. what is the issue? craftsman opener 139.53681B;unit in garage 41A5021-2F. shouldn't these last longer than, say, a year? also, we have found garage door open 3 times recently when we know we have shut it.

I would say you need a new mother board for this unit. These problems are typical to a electrical surge. A GFI or GFCI does not protect your gdo from surges, only a surge protector does. They make single plug ones now. It might be smart to replace the whole unit so you have a warranty to cover issues. Also replacing the unit will change the MHz that the gdo operates on. This is probably the only other thing that the remote issue could be, But with the other problem it is probably the board Thanks BB

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
