Why won´t my gdo work. It´s a brand new, Craftsman 315 MHz, 139.18473DM, 41AC150-IM, HBW2028.

We were given a Craftsman 1/2 hp., 315 MHZ, model 139.18473DM, remote HBW2028, Model Part # of Current Receiver 41AC150-IM, last month as an anniversary gift. It was purchased from Sears in March/09. We had a professional electrician install the garage door opener & we ran into a problem. The door opens but then only closes about a ft. The electrician has checked out everything. We have never been able to use it once since it was installed back in April. It´s probably something simple but we can´t seem to put our finger on it. We did read one of your comments regarding a similar situation to ours, a technician responded in regards to a interrupter cup & the sensor is in the right place. My husband did check this out & the sensor was not in tightly so he put it back in & now the garage door does not open or close. We are getting very frustrated with this situation. Sure hope you can help us out. It would sure be nice if we could use our gift.

You did not mention if you can close the door by holding the button on the wall switch in. If you can the problem is somewhere in the door safety sensors or the wiring to them.

What happens now when you try to close the door? Does the led on the motor unit flash? How many times? Does the work light on the opener flash? What did your husband do that stopped the opener from working at all?

You should schedule service and get a Sears technician to check out the garage door opener. You have a 90 day warranty on the opener that includes labor and parts. If the technician discover the problem is the fault of the installer, the installer should pay the technician.

We can get your opener working if you want to do it. I will need the questions I asked answered. It might take us 2 or 3 emails to finally get it going. The more details you can give me the easier it will be to make the opener work.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
