I have a broadcast spreader, model 486.243232. I bought 2 new gears and they do not mesh. What can be wrong?
They mesh part way and they stop if I mark the spot and take them out and re-install they do it again at the same spot.

Examine the teeth on both gears. You might have some teeth with some slag on them from the mold. If you don't find anything that is simple to remedy, order new gears. Call Sears Parts Direct and explain the problem, they will send you some new gears.
