I have a Craftsman FT Tiller 900 series (917-299011)__It backfired twice and now won't start at all. I purchased it new at my local Sears in March. I have used it maybe a total of two hours. I kept it stored in an outdoor shed and I cover it with a plastic container. I read something about a gap and spark plug but I didn't understand what that meant. I checked my gas and oil before I started. Could my plug be bad? A blue flame shot out during the backfire. What about the carb or air filter? Should I take it back to the dealer? Thanks~
I recommend having a service tech come out to have a look at your tiller. I have a pretty good idea that the valves have come out of adjustment. To make sure that that's all it is, you'd really need a tech to check it over. It should be a fairly simple process for a trained eye/ear.
