On my garage door opener when one remote control is programmed the other remote is disabled. Any ideas?

I have a Craftsman Garage Door opener model 139.53661SRT1. I have two remote controls for my garage door opener. One of the remote controls stopped working and I reprogrammed it in accordance with the instructions in the Owner's Manual. The remote control worked after it was reprogrammed, but the other remote control (which had previously worked) no longer worked. I repeated the process several times with the same result; Do you have a recommendation as to what I should do?

I would recommend buying 1 new remote control. Erase the codes from the memory of the logic board inside the opener and program the new remote to the opener. One of your original remotes will program with the new remote. Remove the battery from the one that doesn't program and dispose of it properly.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
