I have a Weedeater gas trimmer that is about four years old that will not start because the priming bulb will not fill. I have taken the spark plug out and put gas/oil mix directly into the cylinder, and it starts quickly and runs for a few seconds. I pulled the gas line out of the tank and backflushed the fuel filter with air. Fuel filter seems to be working fine and gas line seems OK, i.e., no cracks and flexible. I don't see any visible problems with the priming bulb, but doesn't pull fuel from the tank. Is it as simple as replacing the priming bulb or is there something else that needs to be checked, such as the carburetor and/or gaskets?
You forgot to include your model number. So I'm not real sure of which machine you have. No real worries though, I think we can work around it.
The primer bulb should have some type of a in/out diaphragm under it. If that has worn out, you will have the problem you're describing. Sometimes you have to replace the whole primer assembly (recommended anyway) and sometimes you can just replace that diaphragm. That should solve your issue as long as your lines are in good condition.Member
